It is one of the most unsettling experiences a Christian can face: watching someone you love, respect, or look up to walk away from the faith. A friend who once worshipped beside you. A family member who knew the gospel. A leader whose teaching once fed your soul. When those around us stumble or fall, a sobering question rises close to home — could that happen to me?
Peter and Jude wrote to answer that question. Their letters are short, urgent, and utterly relevant — written for believers who needed both a clear warning about the dangers threatening the church and the deep encouragement of knowing that God is able to keep them from falling. 2 Peter & Jude For You brings these two powerful letters to life for Christians today, verse by verse, with pastoral clarity and practical application on every page.
2 Peter & Jude For You is part of the God's Word For You series published by The Good Book Company — one of the most trusted expository Bible guide series for non-specialist readers. In this volume, Dr. Miguel Núñez works carefully through both letters, explaining what Peter and Jude meant for their original readers and showing with precision why their words matter just as much in the twenty-first century.
This is not a dense academic commentary. It is an accessible, application-rich expository guide designed to do three things well:
An accompanying Good Book Guide is also available for structured small-group Bible study on 2 Peter and Jude, making this volume and its companion ideal for both personal and community use.
How to Keep from Stumbling The opening chapters of 2 Peter call believers to build on their faith with virtue, knowledge, self-control, steadfastness, godliness, and love. Núñez unpacks this as a picture of genuine spiritual growth — not a way to earn salvation, but evidence that salvation is real and working.
The Trustworthiness of Scripture Peter's emphasis on the prophetic word and the God-breathed nature of Scripture is unpacked with care, giving readers confidence that what they hold in their hands is not a human invention but the very word of God — a sure foundation in uncertain times.
Recognising and Resisting False Teachers Both 2 Peter and Jude have sharp, urgent things to say about false teachers — those who enter the church and quietly distort the gospel for their own ends. This book equips readers to recognise the marks of false teaching without becoming suspicious or cynical, and to hold fast to what is true.
The Certainty of God's Judgment These letters do not shy away from the reality of divine judgment. Núñez handles this theme with theological seriousness and pastoral sensitivity, showing how the certainty of judgment is not a threat to those in Christ but a comfort — justice will be done, and God's people will be vindicated.
The Return of Christ and How to Wait 2 Peter 3 addresses those who mock the idea of Christ's return. Núñez shows how Peter's answer — that God's apparent slowness is actually patient mercy — reshapes the way believers live in the present, with urgency, hope, and holiness.
Contending for the Faith Jude's famous call to "contend for the faith that was once for all delivered to the saints" is unpacked as a charge not just for theologians but for every believer. Núñez shows what it looks like to hold firmly to the gospel in a world that wants to water it down.
Mercy, Doubt, and Restoration Jude closes not with condemnation but with a call to mercy — toward those who are wavering, those in danger, and those already caught in error. This book ends where the letter ends: with the breathtaking assurance that God is able to keep his people from falling.
Christians facing doubt or discouragement — especially those shaken by seeing friends or leaders fall away from the faith — will find both honest engagement and solid reassurance in these pages.
Small group leaders and Bible study facilitators preparing a group study on 2 Peter or Jude will find Núñez's chapter-by-chapter exposition ideal for sermon preparation and discussion questions.
Pastors and preachers will appreciate the careful verse-by-verse handling of the text, the engagement with the original context, and the rich application points ready to be drawn into the pulpit.
New and growing believers who want to understand what genuine, persevering faith looks like — and why it matters that they not only begin well but finish well.
Anyone navigating a season of spiritual pressure — from cultural compromise, relational drift, or the subtle pull of false ideas — who needs both a warning and a firm hand of encouragement.
Dr. Miguel Núñez serves as the Senior Pastor of the International Baptist Church in Santo Domingo and is the Founder and President of Wisdom & Integrity Ministries, with a vision to impact the Spanish-speaking generation with the revelation of God's Word. He is also a council member of The Gospel Coalition and an Associate Professor of Pastoral Leadership at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.
Dr. Núñez brings to this book the perspective of a pastor who has served the church across cultures and who knows from experience what it means to shepherd people through seasons of spiritual danger. His writing is warm, direct, and grounded — the work of a man who clearly loves both the Word and the people it is written for. His Latin American pastoral roots give this volume a freshness and global breadth that will resonate with readers in India and across the world.
