John Apostle

John Apostle

John the Apostle, a disciple of Jesus, was the son of Zebedee and brother of James. He was present together with James and Simon Peter at the raising of Jarius' daughter, Jesus' transfiguration and in the garden of Gethsemane. He is often referred to as the 'disciple whom Jesus loved'. He became a pillar of the early church in Jerusalem but was banished to Patmos 'on account of the word of God, and the testimony of Jesus'.
